Cache Creek Review
It's tricky to get there, but recommended route is to head onto I-505, take the CA Highway 16 exit, head west, and drive about ten miles. Be careful; Hwy 16 doglegs several times, goes through small towns and villages, drops to speed limit 15 and 20 a few times (and they do enforce it!), and in general is more bucolic than efficient. You can't miss the casino, though, it's the only thing in view for miles when you get there. Parking entrance is on the west side of the casino.

Games

Limit hold 'em: 3/6, 4/8 (full kill), 10/20 (half kill)

No-limit hold 'em: 2/4 blinds (100-200 buy-in), 200-500 buy-in

Game Info

Rake for 3/6 is $3+$1 jackpot for 7-9 players, $2+$1 for 6 players, $1+$1 for 5 or fewer players, $1 if no flop. Rake for no limit is $5+$1 jackpot. Rake is taken from the blinds before the flop. No flop, no drop.Posting:

Shuffling: Standard ShuffleMaster machines on all tables.

Game Review: Original Poster said:

pretty steep blinds for a $100 buyin. I saw a couple shark types, one guy had probably over $1,500. I got lucky to triple up at one point, and when I had a comfortable amount of chips I found most of the competition to be soft and I could bully them effectively.

Wait Time

Varies with the game and limits and time of day; relatively short, I thought. Approximately 15-30 minutes. On friday and saturday night the wait can be as long as two hours.

Jackpots
Bad beat jackpot is four sixes or better beaten.

Royal Flush Jackpots are also available, progressive by suit. Amounts seem to be around $300-$500 for any given suit.

Atmosphere

One of the more uncomfortable places I've played poker, which surprises me. Cache Creek tries hard to be a "major casino that happens to be in the middle of a field", and in many ways they succeed. But their poker room falls well short.

They've made some effort to improve the environment by opening up a new poker area on March 19, 2007 with 28 poker tables. Although they purport to spread 10/20 half-kill, Omaha, and 1000-min no-max NL, on a recent trip, the highest limits they had were 4/8 kill and 200-500 NL with every table full.

The room is now non-smoking, which is nice. Unfortunately, the dealer quality has not improved.

Neighborhood: You're in the middle of nowhere! What neighborhood? There's farms and fields on all sides.

Parking: Lots and LOTS of parking available on site. Valet parking also available.

Tables and Chairs: Standard 9-player tables. Felt is nice, soft felt with good padding. Player chairs are standard wood-frame chairs with nice padding; no wheels. Slide-in cup holders available for drinks.

Service and Comps
No food service; looks like you cannot eat at the tables. Drinks available through standard casino cocktail waitresses, with standard slide-under-the-armrest cup holders. Drinks seemed reasonably priced.

You currently do not earn any comp points on your Cache Creek Club card if you play poker. Video poker, yes. Live poker, no.
