Re: Casino architecture
This upscale casino was built on 6.8 acres for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and would become a prominent feature of downtown Palm Springs, California. Situated diagonally across from the existing property, a two-story casino structure was designed to represent the Agua Caliente people, with cream-colored exterior stucco walls, blue tiled roof and rounded turrets. The project consisted of a 120,000 square foot building area with over 50,000 square feet of gaming floor. The interior features three restaurants; bar and grille; 150-seat entertainment lounge; several water features.

The casino structure consists of a structural steel frame supported by individual and continuous concrete spread footings. Because the site is within close proximity to the San Andreas Fault, the building’s lateral force resisting system features reduced beam section, special moment resisting steel frames to accommodate the anticipated seismic ground accelerations.
