Re: Game Rules -- 3 blinds in NLH
No-Limit Hold'em Poker (NLH)
The betting rules and dealing procedures for NLH are the same as our rules and procedures for Holdem with the following exceptions:
Unlike Holdem, there is no maximum bet in no limit (and no “cap”). players may bet all their chips if they choose.
There are 3 blinds in NLH.
A straddle is allowed from any position at the table.
Betting and Raising
Because the amount of a bet can vary in a no-limit situation, players are strongly encouraged to clearly state their intentions before acting in turn.
When raising, a player must either put the amount of the raise out in one motion or state the raise amount. By stating the word raise, a player protects his/her right to raise, but the raise must be made in one additional motion unless he/she states the amount.
The amount of a raise must be at least twice the amount of the previous bet or raise. If a player makes no verbal declaration, and does not place the proper number of chips for the raise into the pot, he will not be allowed to return to his stack to complete the raise. A raise must be at least the amount of the previous bet or raise.
Straddles
A straddle must be twice the amount of the big blind.
The player placing the straddle becomes the “bigger blind”. Action begins with the first player after the straddle (clockwise). If action returns to the straddle without a raise, the straddle has the option to raise.
Straddle bets must be announced before the first card for that hand is dealt.
Only one straddle is allowed per hand. If two or more players want to straddle at the same time, priority will go to the first person after the active big blind (clockwise).
In order to raise a straddle bet, the player must at least double it.
A straddle does not change the action after the flop,
After the flop, the first player to act will be the first player immediately after button (clockwise).
The minimum bet is still the amount of the big blind.
