Re: Hotel Expansion
The tribe that owns Cache Creek Casino Resort is proposing a $200 million expansion that would more than double the number of guest rooms and make it the largest hotel in the Sacramento region.
The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation is proposing to add 377 hotel rooms to accommodate agritourism visitors to the Capay Valley, as well as gamblers at the casino in Brooks.Cache Creek currently has 200 rooms in the hotel tower and spa that has been operating near capacity since its opening in 2004.
The tribe previously proposed adding almost 500 more rooms in 2007, but those plans dissipated during the recession. The expansion that's currently planned would also include a pool, restaurant, additional meeting space and a ballroom, along with the 377 new rooms, according to a notice filed in March, disclosing the preparation of an environmental impact report.
The tribe does not plan to add any more gaming space as part of the expansion.
The hotel rooms could help support Yocha Dehe's diversification into agritourism. Two years ago, the tribe opened the Seka Hills Events Center, which includes a tasting room that showcases Capay Valley farm products. Those include olives and olive oil, wine and honey.
The hotel expansion could start this year, and would likely take two years to complete, according to the tribe’s filing with Yolo County.
The new hotel space would be built on land that now serves as a parking lot.
After the expansion, Cache Creek's 577 hotel rooms would make it larger than both the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Sacramento. The two downtown hotels, with 503 rooms each, are currently the region's largest.
Yocha Dehe has been diversifying its business beyond the casino for years, buying agricultural and pasture land, starting up an olive mill in 2012 and offering food products under the Seka Hills brand.
