Message:	Lotus Casino in Sacramento is getting a nearly $5 million makeover, joining the trend of neighborhood card rooms going upscale. The existing 5,000 square foot cinderblock building at 6010 Stockton Blvd. will be expanded by 9,500 square feet. The casino, which runs around the clock, will stay open during the work, which is to be done in three phases over the course of a year. In addition to more space, the block-shaped building will be remodeled in the French colonial architectural style seen in Vietnam, said Manny Perez, the casino's general manager. Lotus Casino is in Sacramento's Little Saigon neighborhood along Stockton Boulevard. The expansion work will also include extensive landscaping and lighting, as well as a complete interior renovation of the card room, bar and restaurant. The expanded Lotus Casino will still have its limit of 15 card tables. Games include poker, pai gow poker and blackjack. The upgrade follows a trend. Many of the state’s card rooms in recent years have become Vegas-style casinos, often paired with a sports bar or a family dining restaurant. Locally, a small Rancho Cordova card room was moved and converted into the much larger Cordova Casino in 2010. Stones Gambling Hall in Citrus Heights consolidated two smaller card rooms in Sacramento and Citrus Heights into a pair of larger casinos tied to an upscale restaurant in July 2014. In its state license, Lotus is listed as Parkwest Lotus Casino, though the Parkwest name is not on the Lotus website. In addition to Lotus Casino, there are five other casinos in Northern California listed as Parkwest, including Parkwest Casino 580 in Livermore, Casino Cordova in Rancho Cordova, Casino Lodi and the 101 Casino in Petaluma. ~http://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/news/2015/12/23/5m-makeover-will-revamp-lo tus-casino.html ~
